Reading Coordinates

I have a Garmin StreetPilot c530 and recently purchased a Nuvi 760. There were many "favorites" I had put into my c530 that weren't address but actual "Stopped-at" locations for better accuracy. Is there any way to read the coordinates on the c530 so i can transfer the info into my Nuvi?

Open the current.gpx file up

Open the current.gpx file up in Extra Poi Editor.Select under file Open Garmin Favorites.Edit the ones you want and save as a Garmin gpx file.

You can download Extra Poi Editor at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor . When you download the program if you get message about OCX file missing scroll down on the main page and under troubleshooting you will find the Extra Poi Editor Installer that you will need to download. Once installation is completed you will need to set up the preferences you want first. Under options click on preferences. For example using ft for input. Under units you will see editor, select Imperial/US. For Field Read select metric and Field save select Metric.

Thanks for your quick response.

So you are saying I can save each one from my 530 as a gpx file? Then what do i do to install that info into the Nuvi?

Yes you can save any of the

Yes you can save any of the favorites. You can also select save as a Garmin csv file if you like.Your choice.Just connect gps to computer and let EPE do the work.

Suggestion.Once you have the favorites loaded to Extra Poi Editor just save as a Garmin CSV file to your computer and edit from excel program. You can also use notepad or do stright from EPE.

Thanks. I'm going to give it a try. I may be contacting you again If I have troubles,...smile

No problem

No problem. If you haven't used the Extra Poi Editor program.Try it out it will do lots of other things. One tool you need for all your custom pois.

Using POI editor once the favorites are loaded double click on any one of them.It will take you to another screen so you can edit that one.Just make sure to click ok at bottom for each one you do.You will also see on this screen data that can be added.

Mapsource

Why not just use Mapsource. Read the favorites from one GPS, then upload them to the other.. No fancy editor needed..I've done this several times.

Mapsource is another option

Mapsource is another option also.If OP has it.Just select transfer and select receive from device. Then plug other gps to computer and select send to device.EPE also has save to Garmin favorites under file to put back on other unit.Op my want to edit some of them first.

OK. It took awhile, but I discovered using the Excell program was NOT the way for me. The EPE worked great because I needed to edit things.

Now another question: my Nuvi 760 won't display my "phone number 2". The file name appears at the top,...then 2 lines of address info,...and the third line is the primary phone number. Will my unit display a 4th or more lines to display phone 2 and e-mail address? If so how do I get it to do it?

.

The information will be displayed if you use EPE and put the phone, email, etc. fields in the Description field. Press the More button to display them.

To be able to dial the primary phone number, the POI(s) must be saved in a .GPX file.

What you see is pretty much what you get. On the first screen for a GPX you will get the POI Name, address and primary phone number. You can also get 2 more limited fields, a description and comment. Everything else goes onto the second page.
