Fullerton, CA redlight cameras are gone

I drove past some intersections in Fullerton, CA today. All the redlight cameras are gone.

They were installed be Nestor Traffic Systems of Delaware which is in bankruptcy.

Keep an eye on those intersections

look for replacements, if bankruptcy was the real cause.

Fullerton redlight cameras are gone

An article from the local paper. Yeah, they're gone.

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/city-fullerton-looking-26...

Quote:

FULLERTON – The last of the red-light traffic camera equipment, ordered shut down by a Superior Court judge in November 2008, is being removed by Nestor Traffic Systems of Rhode Island at three major intersections throughout the city.

"Nestor is paying for everything," City Manager Chris Meyer said.

The red-light system was turned off in December 2008 after Superior Court Judge Robert Moss concluded portions of a city contract with Nestor gave the company a financial incentive to increase tickets issued and paid through its equipment. The judgment was made in response to an appeal by a violator.

Yeah. Have you called your elected representatives? Written letters?

Lots of the Arizona legislature is comfortable with email, I have emailed some and had personal responses.

Weigh it. Tell them what you think. If you don't the only voices they will hear will be those of the lobbiests. And salesmen from the redlight camera companies.

Blue Light Special

The recent article said they just replaced them with new cameras that feed the police dispatchers so they can keep an eye on the area. I think they were calling them blue light cameras now because of a blue tint. So do we need a new POI for blue light cameras too? grin

Not likely

Nah, unless you are gonna get out of your car and start bar fights downtown.

That's what the remaining cameras are for. Not for anyone in cars.
