getting ready for a new server

We continue to see more visitors each week, and last week we briefly bumped up against a space limitation on our main database. There's also been some strange behavior and server time-outs at busier times of the day.

So today, I initiated the process to get a dedicated server for POI Factory. Hopefully, in a week or so, I'll be able to move the site to its new "home" smile

What type of DB?

So what database are you using? SQL 2000 or 2005? or something else?

Just curious.

database

POI Factory is using MySQL.

Also, the space issue I mentioned is not a technical limitation, but an arbitrary limitation imposed by the site's current hosting plan.

I never used MySQL. I have found that a lot of the querying is very much like SQL 2000. Heck, if you know one, you can figure out the others....lol.
