Contributors of the week 2007-03-19

This week we are recognizing Lsmonop and Rzerr. We are also giving honorable mentions to 5thumbs and Bobkz.

Lsmonop your ability to help people problem solve is really cool and appreciated.

Rzerr was a 3 week lurker and sprung into action this week, producing file after file. Great Job!!

5thumbs helped us this week build a form letter to give to major chains in order to get their assistance in our goal of becoming the best place to get POI's in the USA. We will be working on how to contact larger businesses and get them on board with our plan soon.

Bobkz it is delightful to have you actively involved on the boards. You have a great happy helpful aura about you that glows throughout the forums.

I was not expecting to get so attached to the people that make up this community. It is exciting when other enthusiastic GPSers sign up and you start to get to know them a little through their experiences and knowledge.

It reminds me of being back in school and having the new kid on the block show up. I am so happy to be part of a community that stands up and embraces the new people and make them feel so at home and part of the team. I am proud of what is being achieved here.

Sincerely,
Miss Poi

Other pages

Congratulations to all

Lsmonop has been particularly knowledgeable and helpful with his in depth knowledge of the GPS, and even the Tappan Zee bridge.

I can't believe the number of POI files that appear almost on a daily basis. Miss POI, You acknowledge passing 1,000,000 POIs last year, how many are we up to now?

Also, very interested in the form letter from 5thumbs. Is it our intention to create the POI's for these chains and to create a link on their site?

WOW !!

I was not expecting that... Very kind..

I am still learning GPS.. As I do grow, I will be able to help out even more. Having the kind of folks here make it easy to post and want to be part of the posts. I am just having fun and learning at the same time..

The Plan

Mkahn,
The idea is to have companies give us a list of all of their locations that can then be turned into POI files by teams of people here that are interested, then when they get a new location they just contact us to make sure that it is included in the file.

It just takes up so much time to try to get the information out of some of these company websites. It would be a much easier process if we had their help.

Miss Poi

Definitely would be much

Definitely would be much easier, since many companies only will allow you to search one zip code at a time and have a 50 mile radius, which means you have to go looking all over the state for the rest of their sites, Bank of America has been a pain and I am still working on that one..

Miss Poi

I would be very happy to assist in any geocoding. Also, it would be very useful for those sites to provide the data with either a link or mention of POI-Factory. A win-win situation.

Is it Ismonop or Lsmonop? I always thought it was I, but when I looked at his name in the userlist, it was L. If it is L, I appologize for past indescretions smile,

Also, for JM:
You seemed to have corrected the problem with the Userlist not offering the option to go beyond page 1, however today when I used the list, I again had problems. I am using IE7 on the machine in quesiton. First it showed only the first page with no option to change the page...I backed out and again selected User List, and it provided the page changes, however, after I got to the third page the option was again removed.

It always shows as Ismonop in all the posts I've read, (didn't look on the user list) maybe we can get some clarification from the horses mouth:)

Miss Poi

wow we got that settled

I have to dry my eyes. Definitely, the best laugh I've had all day!

Yes indeed it is an L although I was growing accustomed to the I. Not an issue at all, and no need for anyone to apologize or feel bad. I had to re-read all the posts again, I need another tissue...lol

I'd like to thank Miss Poi for the recognition and also the kind words from my "colleagues".
Congratulations to the other recipients this week, well done.

For Mkahn, I have logged a few hours driving over the Tappan Zee.

I think "the plan" is a grand plan.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a need to answer some questions!
Thanks again! "L"
