Camera False Positive's

The Red Light Camera a few blocks from my house has all of a sudden started flashing at anything. I thought that was strange, so I pulled in the parking lot to watch it.

In the next 5-10 minutes that I sat there, it flashed at almost every car coming up to the light. I was parked in a way to see that the cars (most of them) weren't even up to the line yet, let alone crossing it.

Now, I'll have to see if there are more complaints. I went to the city council meeting this week for a completely different issue, but the alderman of that ward read a letter to the council from one of his constituants regarding this light flashing all night long, which they are bothered by. They are also bothered by the fact that they can't even sell the house without divulging this information to potential buyers, thereby potentially lowering the property value.

What struck me even more is the fact that they talked about the fact that if the light gets too many complaints from the residents, they would move the camera to a different light. yeah - ok - so much for safety... rolleyes

A suggestion for the alderman... How about installing a trench coat that opens and closes over the flashing light?

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

Camera's could have been in a test phase
