Customizing the nuvi 760

I had a StreetPilot 2610 for a few years and was very happy with the customizing it allowed. When I was driving it told me; the time, my speed, the street I was driving on, the address I was passing etc.

I like the display of the nuvi 760 but it gives me very little information. I can get my speed, the speed limit and the cross streets in front of me. The nuvi does not give the time or the street I am driving on etc.

Does anyone know how to customize the nuvi 760 so I can see the time, the street I am driving on etc?

Thanks,
Jim

WYSIWYG

The desired customizations are not doable.

.

The nuvi line allows virtually no customization. The units are basically set up as, "What Garmin gives you is what you settle with". Gone are the days of being able to configure your GPS to give you the info that *you* want or need. I guess Garmin feels all nuvi users are "soccer-mom" types who only want to push a couple of buttons & be done with it. True, some of the newer models such as the 7x5 & 8x5 allow a couple of configurable data fields but that's about it.

You might want to vote with your wallet at the time of your next GPS purchase and go with another manufacturer that respects the user's intelligence rather than assuming the user is a dummy & incapable of configuring a GPS to their liking.

Bummer

I hadn't realized that other units had custom features. That would have been nice to be able to modify the screen, I'm constantly catching myself looking to it for the time for some reason.

Time

The time is displayed on the main menu, so if you have to know you can just go back a screen. My cell phone is in a hands free device above the gps, and it displays the time for me - so that is how I get by without it.
