OK time to fess up --- do you disable Garmin Safe Mode

Ok, I'll be the first ... the first to confess that the first thing I do with a new Garmin GPS is disable the "Safe Mode" so that I can fiddle with the touch screen while I fly down the expressway ... both eyes on the road and my third eye on the GPS screen.

I'm actual quite adept at drinking a pop, fiddling with the Garmin, and driving at the same time. I don't try to talk on the phone however. Hey, even I have my attention span limits!

Does anybody have their Garmin set to the Safe Mode.

Come on, fess up.

Disabled

All safeties are off.

disable safe mode

A profound yes! I disable safe mode, usually at the first stop light. I get bored with just driving, texting or talking on the cellphone, eating my Big Mac, drinking my coke, watching a movie on my DVD, or looking over the morning paper. I need to go into my gps too. I have a 765t, but dont even recall having to disable a safe mode. Maybe I fergot. My 340c had it I think.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Safe Mode?

That was the first thing that was done to the GPS. To be honest I really don't know that it prevents you from doing - cause it is disabled.

Disabled

That feature is disabled first time it goes into the vehicle.

--
If you ain't got pictures, I wasn't there.

That feature

Of course we all know that "feature" isn't there for the consumers benefit anyway, it's there to protect Garmin's butt. If you disable it and crash, it's your fault, if you don't it's your fault too, but Garmin's lawyers can easily defend Garmin saying they told you so.

How they'd find this out however, I have no idea. smile

definitely disabled. I like

definitely disabled. I like to switch between the FM traffic map and navigation view

SAFE - MODE

I recently bought a Nuvi 755t and don't know anything about safe mode - I use mine when able to safely even if I'm moving. Quickly touching a screen on a windshield mounted device is much safer than looking down to retune a car radio or change a CD.

I disable mine just in case

I disable mine just in case I want to push a button while driving. But it is nice that they have the warning there.
