Switched GPS units and need to transfer favorites

Hi everyone. I just replaced my Nuvi 660 with a Nuvi 765T and I'm trying to figure out how to transfer my favorites? I've got the POI loader and I've been able to upload my red light cameras without any problems. However, I used Garmin Road Trip and downloaded all the favorites from my old Nuvi and exported it as a GPX file but it would not show up in the favorites folder. I'm not sure what to do to get them in there.

I've got quite a few favorites that I use when I travel and around town. I don't want to retype everything and I tried to upload "send" from the Garmin Road Trip program and it said it was uploading a new map so I canceled it because I don't want to mess up a brand new map on my new Nuvi.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm sure someone in here will know exactly what I need to do to get it to work.

Thanks,
John

From the nuvi drive, copy x:/Garmin/GPX/current.gpx to your backup location. To restore them, copy current.gpx back to the same folder on the nuvi but rename it to temp.gpx (important). On the next power cycle*, the favorites will be read from temp.gpx into the non-user accessible memory area on the nuvi where they are actually stored (current.gpx is only a shadowed backup of your favorites).

*Note that a "power-cycle" (or power-on/power off sequence) on the nuvi 8x0/8x5 units consists of removing, then reinserting the battery into the unit. Using the power switch on the unit to power it off only puts it into a "sleep" mode.

If you have mapsource you

If you have mapsource you can hook the 660 up to your computer and bring up mapsource then click on transfer then receive from device.Once you have them hook the 765 up to the computer and click back on send to device.
