Nuvi 660 and Traffic

Have a Nuvi660 for quite sometime now with lifetime traffic. Codes in nuvi.

Live in Delaware, but use traffic for Philly, Balt and NYC areas.

Last trip to NY had no traffic coverage on Friday night up, but coverage was active on trip home on Sunday. Any ideas????

Also with a 660 here, in Chicago...
During the 'demo' I never saw anything happen....
This was a couple years ago, and there were numerous updates to system going on at that time.

I tried to get a 2nd demo, to see if it had changed, and there is no 2nd demo...

It's interesting to note that you are at least getting something now and then... I never saw anything that would indicate that the traffic demo was in fact working...

When it did work, what did you see?

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

I have used the FM Traffic

I have used the FM Traffic with the 660 for over a year. In the Ny/NJ area main roads on the traffic maps would show green ( clear), yellow (minor delays) and red (traffic deadlocked) in close to real time. On magnified view it would also show this on half the road only (meaning eastbound was delayed only.)

It has saved me many hours in the NY area bypassing traffic. One day last year coming home from a Yankee game on Sunday evening, Northern NJ looked like it was "bleeding", there was so many delays.

Same Problem Once

I have a 680 with a lifetime subscription as well. It has saved me many times in the Phoenix, AZ area. Once, coming home from a night baseball game, it seemed to stop and then come back the next day. It has always worked since then. I just figured it was a fluke.

I have a 660 and live in the NYC Metro area.
FM Traffic is often hit or miss. I wish that I could fully rely on it, but supplement it with other sources just to be sure. If at home and if I have the time I may look online. In the car it is local broadcast and XM traffic on my XM receiver.

I find that leaving NYC area it is almost always giving some info but riding back (from let's say the Poconos) I may show no traffic activity even if there are extensive delays in and around the George Washington Bridge.

Be well,
Rob
