POI file subscription

I have and idea.
Can the site be setup to send an email or alert you when you login into the site that a poi file has been updated? For example you like the rest stop, auto repair and boat ramp poi files. You can setup alerts for those files so you will get notice when they have been updated.
What do you think?

I know that Miss POI and Jon are working on a Project X to change the file structure and download options, but don't know its status. That would be part of it I'm sure.
