Mapquest and Garmin

I've had several routes that were created by Mapquest and tried to send via the send option rejected. That is sometimes with multiple waypoints Mapquest says it can't communicate with my device. I called Garmin and they said they don't advise to use Mapquest. They had me make sure that my computer is seeing the device which it does. Then they had me do a way point in Mapsource which worked then I did a route using the same info only using the beginning and ending points noting in between and that worked. But I've done routes with 4 and 5 waypoints and it's worked before. Any ideas why this works in this way?

Mapquest?

It's been a while since I used MapQuest to send routes since I use MapSource, but I never had a problem with it.

Do you have the latest version of the Garmin Communicator plug in installed? And does the test page show that it is working properly? Have you allowed Active X for that site?

Like I told the Garmin software person, I downloaded and installed the communicator file rebooted my computer. Computer sees the the device but when I try to do a route with more than 2 waypoints I get the error message from Mapquest trouble communicating with device make sure it is connected. When I delete a waypoint it works OK. This doesn't happen all the time just some of the time. I told the software person that I needed to learn how to better use Mapsource.

Ok. MapQuest and MapSource don't have anything to do with each other, so now I'm confused.

Garmin

She was just making sure that the device was actually seeing the device. She didn't know anything about Mapquest. It's amazing that the techs at Garmin don't know what their products do or can do.

Well, I would not expect a Garmin technician to know anything about MapQuest.

It might be helpful to understand that Garmin created a piece of software (the Garmin Communicator Plug-in) which allows website developers to make THEIR websites communicate with Garmin GPS units.

Beyond the ensuring that the functionality of the plug-in and the GPS unit is working correctly, any functionality between the website (MapQuest or any other) and the GPS unit would need to be addressed with that particular website not with Garmin.

But I'm still confused because you keep talking about MapQuest and MapSource. I'm not sure what MapSource has to do with a problem you might be having with the MapQuest website.
