Lost POIs

My pc crashed and lost all my POIs. I still have them on the SD card in the gps, is there a way to get them back on the pc ?

crash computer

if you have a card reader on computer you can copy them back. or get a card reader that will run off usb port

mark

POIs on SD

But won't they be in the .gpi format? If so, is there a POI Un-loader program?

Hi Steve620,

If you put your "individual" poi's, .mp3's and .bmp files on your SD card, then just mount your 660 (with the SD card in the card slot) and when it mounts, open the SD card and copy all the poi's, .mp3's and .bmp files, back to the POI Folder, on your computer.

If you're talking about the .gpi file the POI Loader creates when you upload the POI files to your 660, using the POI Loader, then you're out of luck.

HTH (hope that helps)

.

You can use GPS Babel to try to extract them, but they won't be separated like they were when you loaded them. They will be all lumped together.

If you used the rename method ...

If you used the 'Rename' method of loading the POIs, then you can copy the [renamed].gpi to your computer and use http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert to convert each one back to csv files. Each one will be separate, just name it to coincide with the name on the [renamed].gpi file. This is another advantage of the 'rename' method of loading POIs.

If you used the folder method, you can convert the poi.gpi file back to a csv file with http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert , then separate them for each POI file you put into the folders. Trying to guess where each one goes is a real job.

Of course, when using this method you'll lose any alerts or sounds associated with the files.

Good luck.
