I know we have a lot of the chain hamburger places but some of the best are from little greasy spoon mom and pop places. I would like to see a project of a collection of the best burger joints we have found. I'm specially intersted in AZ and So Cal. and So NV as we take motorcycle trips just to go for burgers. I'm new and don't know how to create yet but would be willing to learn if there is enough interest in this.
Again you don't know how much I appreciate all the interest I get with this thread, but as Miss POI and I have asked, please be helpful when submitting your suggestions. Please include the following:
ZIP: opitional but helpful
PHONE: opitional but helpful
We are up to almost 80 locations and 800 downloads. Thanks. And again I couldn't do it without all your help....Harpo
Ask and you shall receive: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/12350
Now would you like to head up this project or would you like someone to volunteer to put in the locations that are about to come flooding into this thread?
Nothing like being volunteered to do a job. I guess it would be a learning experience as long as I have someone to turn to for help.
KINCAIDS, 4901 CAMP BOWIE BV, FT. WORTH TEXAS
hmm nice and greasy
Try these 2 out in AZ. They are called the Heart Attack Grill:
440 W. Warner Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284
6185 W Chandler Blvd, AZ 85226
Or you can always go to Islands - the burgers there are fantastic.
I went there Fri night (Chandler Blvd) and they are only open right now from 11:00 am to 3:00pm. Soon to have full bar and open at nights. Needless to say being closed I have tried one yet but it's on my list.... Thanks
PO Box 2308
They aren't as good as the used to be
UT oh...BURGER POI's....Now I'm in trouble!!!

Lets make sure that we are doing the leg work for the members that are managing these files.
Please submit all the info including the Longitude, Latitude, address, phone number along with the name of the establishment. All they should be responsible for is putting the data into the file.
I've been google mapping myself to death coming up with the coord. The problem is I'm getting hungry for a burger doing this... LOL Going to be a road trip this weekend.
There are a couple here in Chico called Burger Hut. There was only one for many years but they have finally opened another one here as well. I think they may have a third one in a neighboring town but that's it. Good burgers and a great topping bar so you can build them however you like. Perhaps I should grab some coordinates and post them along with the addresses.
5420 Airport Blvd
People, does it have to be greasy or would very good hamburgers be acceptable?
Just looking for the best non big chain buger joints. Greasy spoon is just a name for a hole in the wall that has great food and were looking for the best burgers. If you know post name, address, phone, lon. and lat.
Can it be a great burger at a nice restaurant? Or is that not within the spirit of this project?
Might want to combine with this file... this is not a big chain. Started out as one store... however, they have expanded significantly in the DC, MD, VA area. FANTASTIC burgers and fries!!
The idea behind this was to find really great burgers. I wanted to stay away from the multi state chains. But if you have a nice local resturant that has a great burger that you feel is worthy of the list, by all means post or send all the info.
Name, Address, Phone, lon. and lat. I know every town has to have that best kept secret when it comes to burgers.
No burger list is complete without the true original burger joint! Louis Lunch is recognized as the first place to serve a hamburger ... this place opened in 1895!! How cool is that??

>>Lewis’ Bar & Grille
92 Central Street
Norwood MA 02062
Attributes: affectionately known as “Chez Louie”, home of the Lewis Burger. Used to be a smoky neighborhood bar, now it’s just a neighborhood bar. You could show up in beach clothing or roll in on your bike.
33 North Main Street
Sherborn, MA 01770
Attributes: this is a nicer place, you could not show up in beach clothing. Fantastic bleu cheese burger, burgers made from Angus steak. Diverse menu, broad price range. Casual, neat dress reqd.
>>Noon Hill Grille
530 Main Street
Medfield MA 02052
Attributes: You might be able to show up in your beach clothing and be seated. This is a decent, family place. It’s turned into a popular watering hole in an otherwise quiet community. Separate dining area. Huge burgers, value-priced. Special: Meat Loaf Burger <-- WOW!! Broad price range.
I can't wait to check some of these places out!
Check out Tommy's in California. In 1946, Tommy Koulax introduced Los Angeles to a hamburger with gusto. Fifty-four years later, L.A's love affair with his chili-topped creation is still going strong.
Tuesday night it Burger night, they have a 1/2 pound burger with fries for 3.99
N40 47.853 W81 56.687
New York, NY
This place is no greasy spoon, more of a trendy Village cafe but it's specialty is burgers, really big burgers here is a link to their site and you can decide whether is qualifies http://www.bar89.com/index.htm
and they have the coolest restrooms.
What about a locally owned "chain" with 3 locations in two counties? If that qualifies, I'll track down the coordinates and post them.
OK I know everyone except the vegaterians have there, drive out of the way to get to there favorite hamburger joint. With pushing 70,000 members I need imput on your favorite hamburger joint. Great fries and Milkshakes are a plus to. We are NOT looking for national chains but if they are locally owned and have a couple of places in your area and you feel they are worthy of the praise please submit the info. The little Mom and Pop places sometimes have the best food. All I need is the Name, Address, Phone Number, lon, and lat. If you have comments about the place include them. You can email me the info thru contact thru the site. I'm checking out some of the submissions for my area this weekend... Thanks to all that have submitted so far.

Also, even though they are a chain place, Fuddruckers (which already has a POI for it), makes top notch burgers.
Some links to other 'best burger' lists:
http://www.oprah.com/download/pdfs/tows/tows_20060228_burger... (although I'm dubious about an Oprah list of burgers)
I can't vouch for any of this, just providing more info.
Has to be Mike's Drive-in
I have fond memories of my dad taking me to this spot all the time and when I went home last time we ate at the new location in SE.

Then there's another place
known for their Steak-in-a -sack and other Middle Eastern dishes. Truly a hole in the wall joint.
Ali-Baba Timeout Deli

I'm guessing the Steak in a sack is a burger and the big questions is... Are they good? Again thanks for all the submissions.
"Eating thru life, One burger at a time."
the burgers and atmosphere are both great!
Yea, it's pretty much a burger in a pita with a middle eastern flair.
And YES, they ARE that good!
Awesome jumbo burgers, awesome custard. Two "flavor of the day" offered every day. The best in the Milwaukee metro area, 3 locations.

Their Butter Burger is amazing!
This little Shack is also in the "Hot Dog Shops and Stands" but they also make one of the best burgers I have ever tasted.

They always have great breakfast omelette specials but be sure to get the "Judy's Favorite" burger.
547 South Decatur Street
Montgomery, AL 36104
It's owned and operated by Pat and Gay Harrison.
Opened in 1970 on Perry Street then moved in 1995 to
it's present location. It's a one of a kind hole in
the wall type place that originally served only
hamburgers and cheeseburgers. They've added breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and ham sandwiches in recent years. The dogs aren't good enough to add to the hot dog POI, but the burgers are outstanding.
Le Tub is located at:
1100 North Ocean Drive (A1A)
This place sells only one pound hamburgers. They are so good, Oprah went there and showed it on her show. You would drive right by it, because it looks like dive.
Up to 34 of the Best Burger Joints around and growing. Thanks to all that have submitted, and to those who will be submitting your favorite burger joint. Remember we are looking for NON big chains. Like it says Mom and Pop places and if they own a couple in your area thats ok to.
