Mapsource Help

Ok Don't know what I am doing wrong. I create a route in mapsource and save it. I then open it hook up the Garmin and send the route. When it appears in My Date and I open it there are no points. When I open the file on the computer it shows the route fine. So what am I doing wrong?

Import the route

You save the route to the unit, but did you import it to your saved routes? Not sure of the procedure on your unit, but on most units you have to import the route to use it.

I, too, have tried to save

I, too, have tried to save routes and download to my 750. As far as I can tell, you can only save waypoints, not routes. Of course I am probably wrong and hope someone corrects me!

Yep, you must import

Once the route has been transfered from the PC you must do the following on your GPSr.
Touch:
-Tools
-My Data
-Import Route from File

The route will be available to select in " Routes" of the "Where To" menus. At least this is what needs to be followed on the 750 and 760.

On the 7200 in my Data you

On the 7200 in my Data you do not have that choice. I hit edit review and it shows no points. If I select navigate route it does nothing. I am thinking that it is in the way I am creating the route in mapsource. I usually find the two points that I want. Beginning and end, select them as such, add any stops,(fuel, etc), then edit the route. I save it to a file. Then open it and transfer it to the garmin.

.

The 7200 supports stored routes, so presumably you should be able to send routes from MapSource without them having a bunch of points.

The route won't show any points on the unit if you created the route with only a start and an end, however, the unit should be able to calculate a route based upon that.

There should be an import data function somewhere on the unit, though.

I spent an hour on the phone

I spent an hour on the phone with Garmin. They could not get it to work either. The hold time for software support was 2 hours. Has anyone here got mapsource to work with a 7200?

.

Try saving the file as a GPX and copying that GPX file to the GPX folder on your unit and see what happens.

I am going to try to remove

I am going to try to remove mapsource and reinstall it. Maybe somehow it corrupts over time. The Garmin support guy said it was the first time he had problems with his.
