Putting rest areas via route on NUVI 360

Is it possible to put in all rest areas on a choosen route in a NUVI 360 with icons shown and alarm notification 2 miles before you reach the rest area? I have downloaded the combined POI rest area file into my NUVI and the only way I can get them to come up is to type in rest area and get the mileage to a rest area on my route... I must be doing something wrong can anyone give me some suggestions on the usage for this application.. Thanks... Carl

But, to make the story short, you need to load the POI file with POILoader in manual mode. This allows you to set the alerts while installing them. You can set it to the distance you want. If you are loading a file that you do not want to set an alert for, DO NOT hit the skip file selection, just click next.

Install them with POI Loader in manual mode

.... and enter the distance you want them to alert. Works like a charm for me. I use 5000 feet and I get plenty of notice to hit them when I need to. I just got home tonight after driving over 2000 miles from Ft. Myers FL to Denver CO and got every alert along the way (with 2 exceptions that I will post as soon as I get the data from the GPS - it's too late tonight to bother with it).

Set Any distance you want ...

I have mine set for 23,400 feet (five miles). I think that is enough time for me to decide if I want to stop or not. grin

I did the same thing at 25,000 feet. My 660 wanted to repeat the audio warning ever 20 or 30 seconds (maybe I have a wrong setting somewhere) so I recored a little click sound, just enough to get my attention, and named it the same as the reststop file name with a .mp3 extension. The rest stops then show up on the map 5 miles ahead and the red alert bar show at the top of the screen and I get a little unobtrusive click to attract my attention.

Rest Stops

I think five miles would drive me and the better half nuts.Your ideal of making a different alert sound is good. I have mine set for a mile and a half. I have Utah and Rest stop combined loaded with two different atert distances will be interesting to see how close each one is. I am trying it this week.
