Showing POI icons on map as I drive

Garmin 350

I want to go to POI and select fast food (for example) and in addition to the list of fast food places, I want to go back to map mode and have icons of fast food show on the map as I drive by them.

How do I do this on my 350?

That's pretty much they way they work. Depending on model (don't know about the 350) you might have to be in 2D rather than 3D mode, and you definitely need to zoom in fairly close for them to show up.

If you've loaded the POI's and they aren't showing up in spite of doing the above mentioned things, you need to give us the specifics of what you've done. If you are just asking for somebody to tell you exactly how to go about loading the POI's, there are plenty of instructional posts, most of which can be reached via the GETTING STARTED and FAQ links at the top of each page.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Thanks and Comment

Does anyone know if the 350 can do this?

I tried 2d and zoom in. No Change. I can't see anywhere where I tell the Nuvi to show icons.

3 Ways to Show Icons

You are correct that there is no place to tell the nuvi to show the icons. The only time icons are shown are:
1. If it is in your Favorites
2. It is a POI with Proximity Alert set
3. You zoom in to the closest setting (200 ft)

Nuvu 3xx

Nuvu 3xx,
Map view: track up
Zoom: 300ft.

.

Yeah, you have to zoom in to at least 300 feet. And, I think, be in a 2D (not 3D) map mode.

Hmmmm

Here's a silly question... Did you install the bmp file along with the csv file through POI Loader? You need to have both files in the directory that you're loading from... with both files having the same name (except for the extension). For example: starbucks.csv and starbucks.bmp

cool

In 2D mode, you need to be zoomed in to either 200' or 120'.

In 3D mode, you need to be zoomed in to one of the two tighest zoom levels.

Close, but actually all POIs (internal) show up on the map at a level of 200ft in 2D mode as well as the ones that you mentioned. However, there isn't a way to display ONLY the fast food icons. All POI icons will show up at that level.

so all my custom POIs has to be saved in my favorites in order for me to actually see the icons?

If you zoom in, they will show up on the map.

Saving as Favorite is one option

Saving as a favorite is one of the three options, and the best if you want it to show up at any zoom level.
