As a request by someone to make it easier to find this list on a front page, I couldn't think of anyway to do it except create a new thread. Below is a list of links to Custom Vehicle Icons for your GPS compatible unit. Please link to the original thread for any discussions and how to's:

copy to gps

I don't know what model GPS or PC/MAC you have, but on my 660, I just connect the USB cable to my Windows XP PC to get it in mass storage mode. Then I open My Computer and open the main nuvi device (not the SD card if you have one).

I then navigate to the Garmin\vehicle folder. That's where the .srf vehicle files are stored. Each one is about 1.2MB in size, so be careful how many new files you copy over. They take up space quick.

Then, navigate back to the folder where you unzipped the new vehicle files and pick the ones you want and copy them to the Garmin\vehicle folder.

The steps may be slightly different depending on the model GPS you have and your PC.

Wingspan is great

I love wingspan - am always looking for something that doesn't occupy too much space - also, looks great in 3D but quite decent in 2D. And doesn't look like a car!

Unfortunately, these files were someone elses so if they remove their link, we really can't make our own website from them. That's why it is best to download and keep a file for yourself. It was a good source though for free 3D vehicles.

Run Web Updater. You will find the motorcycles listed in there.

Yes EuroGreen is Garmin from webupdater early on. They might have pulled it. If you send me a PM I can forward it to you.

I believe the triangles are part of the Garmin icons. If you run WebUpdater it will show you the icons available from Garmin.

What are Custom Vehicles?

I've been looking for a mounting kit (not a windshield mount) that will work with many makes and models of rental cars. Is this what custom vehicles will do for me?

I would recommend the Garmin bean-bag mount. It can easily be moved from car to car and works great. It can be ordered from Garmin and can also be found at local retailers.

There is a modern plane on the Garmin webpage called "Garmin Man" and there are several Star Trek shuttles and a Star Wars Tie Fighter that are unique that may be useful. The links are in the begining of this thread and the link below is how they would look on your nuvi.

red pickup

I love aarrgghh's batmobiles! Actually, this whole thread is super helpful. Garmin doesn't seem to offer a whole lot of variety... it's nice to have some options besides reindeer and that weird burrito.

Anyway, I really want the red pickup truck on the sample jpeg, but I can't figure out where to get it. None of the links seem to have it, and when I ran web update it didn't show up. Is it expired or something? sad

The Red Truck will be found when you run the web updater.

mach 5 update

just wanted to let everyone know i tweaked the mach 5 srfs in an attempt to make the icon a little bigger. the camera perspective made the originals look very small. this is not an earth-shattering update.

Prius anyone?

I love the Batmobile and the Mach 5. But my wife would love a Prius for when she borrows my Nuvi. Does anyone know where to find one? Garmin says they won't make any icons of real cars.
