Announcement of streets too late :-?(

Is there some way to adjust the response time for a turn say about 400 feet away vs. 200' or less. I found while traveling in Las Vegas this weekend there was many a time too late to turn sad

Announcement of streets too late ( Response )

I just found out this also, but my Garmin lets me know about 1/2 mile out, so I know to slow down before the 200 foot message.

I've had the same

I've had the same experience. I don't think it is adjustable, which is frustrating considering how easy it would have been to make it customizable, from a software point of view.

Many times the C530 tells me "Turn right" as I'm actually initiating the right turn. So I listen for the first warning ("In point-4 miles, turn right"), then look at the map and/or the text on the top of the map to figure out which street I'll be turning at. Then, when the belated "Turn Right" command comes, it doesn't screw me up because I was anticipating it.

My wife was driving us the other day, and since she wasn't aware of this shortcoming, she made several errors along her route, and kept claiming that she had followed the instructions, only to have the unit recalculate immediately after she made her (erroneous) turn. I told her that if the unit doesn't say "turn right" *as* you're actually turning right, chances are you've turned too soon.

speed changes distance warning

While we were on our trip over Christmas I couldn't understand why I was not getting the 400 feet before turn warning that I was used to and Jon told me that since I was going faster that I would be getting a point 2 miles warning or something like that.

I thought it was pretty cool that the GPS actually changes the warning distance based on how fast you are going.

I don't get on the freeway much around here so I had not actually heard this feature in action.

Sound Fix

I don't know how to fix the warning, however, sometimes I can't hear it. I learned that on my GPS, I can plug it into a cassette player and jack set (like hooking up a CD player to car stereo before wireless) and connect the GPS sound up through my stereo system. I can put MP3's on it and listen through the stereo and it pauses the song, gives instruction then resumes song.

I've experienced that

I've experienced that driving on highways towards Albany as well.
