Custom bmp files, need help

 

With 157 replies in the bmp discussion I am hoping someone can save me the time of reading through the whole thing to find the help I need. I tried copying a .gif from by credit union's website in hopes I could create a custom .bmp file out of it. So far my two attempts have failed. Is there a tutorial somewhere that will help me understand the pitfalls of creating my own .bmp files?

Open the gif in MS Paint, go to File > Save As ... and save it as a BMP. Then resize as needed.

Yep, been there, done that, no worky. I need advance technical assistance.
Here is a link for the .bmp file I created. For some reason it does not display properly on my nuvi 350. If you can tell me what is wrong with this image file I would really appreciate it.

Looks like the bitmap is 36x23 pixels. The maximum size a nüvi 350 can handle, as I recall, is 24x24 pixels.

Yeah, I resized it by 50% in Paint, and it loaded fine.
