Maestro 4250 gps acquistion problems

Hello, can anyone offer suggestions on how to get my Maestro 4250 to acquire satellites. Under User Options -> GPS Options the GPS Status page is entirely blank. When I select the GPS signal icon on the map page it displays 'Finding Satellites Tracking 0' and has stayed that way for the entire time the unit has been powered on. I drove on a 3 hour business trip with the unit mounted to the windshield hoping to no avail that the unit would finally acquire satellite positioning. I realize that I may have a faulty device but hopefully it is something simple to fix. I intend on contacting Magellan support but am not very confident based on most of the reviews of their customer service. Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.

GPS Problems

It happened on my 3225 yesterday. I turned off the unit, wait 1 minute, then turned it back on while keep pressing down on the button for a minute or so, it worked. Try to see if it work for you, if not may be it's time to return the unit. Good luck

Please try the following steps

1) Reset the unit
2) Reboot the unit
3) Reset your location
4) Leave it on. Make sure that you are outside. Wait for 10 minute (don't drive around while waiting). If the unit did not aquire the signal, you have a defective unit.

Reset/Reboot ??

I assume that "reset" is the tiny, hidden button but what is (how do you do) a "reboot"?
Is that in the documentation ?

Reboot

The unit runs on Windwos CE v5 operating system. Just turning unit off and on normaly puts it into "sleep" mode and "wakes it up". In this case unit comes back up almost instantaneously and you will see warning screen right away. Pressing and holding on/off button for about 5 seconds when turning unit off will cause unit to shut down. Pressing and holding on/off button for about 15 seconds when turning unit back on will cause operating system to start (not wake up), you will see Magellan logo on the blue background and blue progress bar. (It is the same as shutting down your laptop, and then turning it back on as oppossed to just closing it and opening it back up).

Reboot

OK, thanks. Mine seems to do a reboot each time I start it after it's been connected to my PC. Probably does that to find new files added. (MM 4000)
