Auto Off

Is there a way to have the Nuvi 200 turn off after a certain amount of idle time. I have to manually turn it off everytime I get out of the car or it will stay on forever?

Auto Off

Hi everyone,

My Nuvi 660 is plugged into a "cigarette lighter" which is "hot" all the time. When I leave the vehicle, I pull the plug out of the recepticle a little bit, then Nuvi announces that external power has been lost and that auto shutdown will take place in 30 seconds, unless I opt to keep it "on" using the internal battery. The nuvi knows whether the device was initially powered up externally (cigarette lighter) or internally (onboard battery) and acts accordingly. Now, if I were to modify my cigarette lighter recepticle so that it was controlled by the ignition switch (I believe that some vehicles have recepticles wired this way from the factory), then each time I start the car, the Nuvi comes on, and each time I turn the ignition off, the Nuvi will automatically intiate a shut down.

Yeap, that is how mine works

I'm glad my recepticle is switched.

I'm glad my recepticle is switched. It makes me feel like I have a built in unit with all the perks of a portable!
