POI Problem (circle goes round & round)

OK--I'm a nubi, but this should be simple..

I loaded GPX and CSV custom POI files ( from POI factory) onto my Nuvi 650
w/ POI loader.

It finished and said I had loaded 2987 POI's

When I look at Where to,Extras, the custom POI screen appears and the little
circle goes round & round ----then nothing ??

What did I do wrong or how can I tell if they are there....the file was put
in Garmin\POI by the loader.

Thanks,
Bob

BK1949, a few questions...

Are you using a PC or Mac to run the POILoader?
If on a PC, can you provide the folder structure you are using? e.g. C:\POI_files\Auto, C:\POI_files\Lodging, etc.

I have a thoery that you may have loaded POIs that are WAY out from your location, maybe Nome Alaska and you're in Florida? Just a thought.

I'd like to help.

Did you press...

I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, but after you pressed "Extras" then got the screen that said "Custom POIs", did you press "Custom POIs"? I didn't see that step in your description of what you did. The POIs are located one screen further down under Custom POIs. My custom POIs include additional categories like Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras, Costco, Target, and Food (short for my favorite resturants).

Extras can contain more than just Custom POIs and they would appear as a category along with the Custom POIs, assuming you had anything else loaded of course.

The additional catagories he mentioned are really folders within his main POI folder. In your case it would be;

C:\Documents and Settings\Bob Brannon\Desktop\Garmin POI\Costco, C:\Documents and Settings\Bob Brannon\Desktop\Garmin POI\Food etc.
You would save the .CSV or .GPX files in those sub-folders. That way the nuvi will show the sub-folders as additional selections in your "Extras" window.

HTH ( hope that helps )

Now I

Now I understand.....

Thanks...
