Just discovered a way to customize my SP 2720 for favorite icon appearance

I think most people believe that the favorites icon distance appearance for custom poi's was defaulted to around 300ft to 800ft and could not be changed. However, on mine, while it has a default setting of 800ft, and the icons disappeared at anything over 800 ft, I can now customize it to anywhere from 300 ft to 5 miles. Had this gpsr over a year and just learning that. Now, my favorites will come in view even at 3 or 4 miles, if I set it to that distance. Cool.

OK

How do you do it !!!

I hope they don't name streets after you ! (joke)

Here goes. On my 2720 sp I go to 'settings', then 'map', then scroll down to 'zoom level detail', then select 'favorites'. The options are OFF, AUTO, and 120ft to 800miles. I personally selected 2 miles, but it gets pretty cluttered up if you have lots of icons.

excellent

I'll have to give this configuration a try! Thanks

Do you know if this works

Do you know if this works with a Nuvi 350?

Go Blackhawks

No, I don't know but I heard

No, I don't know but I heard that someone with a c550, I think, had a similar experience. Since most gpsr are configured a little different, I expect that the path for getting there is a little different on some models.

must have heard wrong

There is no such animal on the c550. You can change map detail, but not map zoom detail.

It would be nice to have it though. I doubt the nuvi's have this feature as well.

John - with a Garmin 650 and a 750

On the Nuvi 350

The Nuvi 350 may not have the options quite like the 2720, but it does have some options.

main menu -> settings -> map -> map detail.
Options are
- Most
- More
- Normal
- Less
- Least

The 350 comes with option Normal set.

I do a lot of driving out in the boonies.... so I set mine to More. I would guess if you do lot of in town driving then normal might be the choice.
