Simullation on nuvi 660 and proximity indicators on poi's

I have loaded a number of differenct categories on my nuvi 660 and now I am requesting some information. When in simulation mode is there any way to speed up the simulation? I am trying to test some of the poi's I loaded but hate having to waste so much time running in simulation mode. I know that I could select a point nearer to my destination, but in some cases these poi's are in Canada and I am in Texas.

Secondly, how can I tell if the poi's have proximity alerts imbedded within them? I have loaded seven different categories, redlight cameras included, which I know have proximity alerts, but all the other categories I am confused about.

Any and all informtion on these two questions would by extremely helpful.

Simulation mode

You can open the current route page by touching the title bar on top. Instead of walking you through the trip it just shows you the upcoming moves.

Yeah, you can step through the turns but you can't change the simulation speed. It is real time.

When you pull up a POI from the menu, it should indicate what if any alert is set. On my Zumo, the page will show Distance: 4000 ft Speed: none. Or Distance 1524 ft Speed: 35 mph.

The alerts won't be automatically set unless the POIs meet certain conditions. But you can set whatever alerts you want by running POI Loader in Manual Mode.

If you take a look at alerts section of the Help File in POI Loader, it will give you specific information about the alerts.

Some basic rules are that numbers in the file name will be interpreted as speed information. As you already know, the word "redlight" triggers an alert. As do the words "speed", "camera", "gatso", "specs", and "safety".

You can also enter speeds for each POI individually by adding the @ symbol and a number after the name of the POI. For example, a Custom POI named "Ridgeview@25" would create a POI named "Ridgeview" with a 25 mph speed alert.

Its a bit faster

I have found that the simulation travels a bit faster then real time, not by much, but some. There is no way that I could get to my local walmart in the time that the simulation runs. Even without traffic.

Well, yeah I should have qualified that statement.

It's real-time in accordance with the speed that the unit has designated for that type of road in it's routing preferences.

My Zumo always routes faster than my MapSource. (Well, it did until I adjusted MapSource.)
