POIs

Custom POIs are shown in proximity to your current location, in front of you, behind you etc. It is your choice as to which (if any) you want to go.

Thank You

Thanks For the Info :}

You can filter custom POIs

You can filter custom POIs so they only show along your current route, if you are following a route (at least you can on the nuvi line).

No, I think it will show POIs along your current route

No, I think it will show POIs along your current route, but will not show ones that would cause you to leave your route by a significant distance. I don't not know what this distance is since Garmin doesn't have a User's Manual for the nuvi 2xx!!!

The POIs ahead of you will have an arrow pointing forward, the ones behind you will have an arrow pointing the wrong direction.

POIs along your current route

I just came down I95 and I75 and when I used my custom POI for Cracker Barell it showed up to 50 locations when you scroll down.I just tried it here at my home and had same results some as far as 136 miles away.My 340 only came with a starter manual also but was able to download the owners manual off the Garmin sight.

current route

I asked the same question just a couple of days ago. Do a search for "current route" and see the reply from Maryville Tim, it should help.

POIs My current route

I don't understand this - do custom POIs come up automatically as you are driving a route? I know I can "pull them up" individually and get directions to them but automatically as I am driving?? I have a nuvi 370.

Custom POIs

My Custom POIs come up automatically whether I'm on a chosen routing or just watching the map. What ever the alerts are set at.

Annoucing Off Route

To carry this question a step further, I have a C340 and I have highway rest stops loaded with a 15,000 ft warning set. Only once in a great while will it annouce a rest stop in advance. In most cases, I have to acutally drive in before it flashes up.

I am assuming this is because the rest stop coordinates are far enough off the road that it does not consider it on the route. Is there any way to get it announce off route POI's?

Not on the C340 :-(

TourGuide alerts are true circles and would work, but they are only available on .mp3 compatible units.

Your only option is to move the alerts nearer the road (75' seems to be the magic number). They should alert at 15000' when selected as a destination though.

Not on C340

You are right, they do work fine as a destination but not as a POI alert. Ah well, maybe some day when I upgrade. I suppose I could go through and move all the longitudes over a hair depending upon whether it is a north or south bound rest stop. Probably more trouble than it is worth. Thanks for the confirmation that I was not missing something.

How on a nuvi 260?

How does one do this on a nuvi 260?
