How do I know? (standard / custom POI)

How do I know I am not duplicating POI's that my Garmin 350 already has loaded?

And what would be a reason for duplicating them? Wouldn't the duplication just be "less efficient" use of storage?

Thanks

Most likely you will create a lot...

of duplicates. The majority of us at "the factory" have found that our data is more current and sometimes more accurate with exact locations. Besides, once you get the hang of modifying the POI files here, you can do a lot of cool things with them that the built-in ones cannot.

Proximity alerts are a lot of fun.
You can link sound files to your personal POIs and you can link special icons to them also.

Right now I'm working on TourGuide files which can link photos, music files and very long descriptions to POIs. But I ramble on.

I've never encountered any memory issues with my GPSr and I have over 77,000 POIs loaded. The speed difference may be a little slower but I think the benefits outweigh all that.

Custom POIs are easier to use

If You are looking for a specific thing, trying to type in the name for a search on the Garmin POI while going 70 miles an hour can be kind of hairy. But with your own POIs organized with the things you want, the way you want are so much easier and safer, for you and the people driving around you.

I do that all the time,

I do that all the time, searching for stuff while going 70mph, maybe that is why I get honked at all the time...lol

Well, I may be safe

I either drive ONLY to Fredericksburg on I-95N before I head over to I-81N OR I get to I-81N via Charlotte on I-77.

What's with the speeding ticket?? Guess you're spending more time on POI Factory than the radar forums you speak of! Maybe it's time for an upgrade on that front, huh?? Looks like you RD may not be cutting it! wink

Oh, it was going off, but I

Oh, it was going off, but I was ignoring it (there were alot of stores, ie falses around) like a fool. Might be time for a brain upgrade.....or at least common sense.
