Garmin nuvi 660 (bluetooth)

I just bought a Garmin nuvi 660 for my wife for Christmas. She loves it, of course, there are many things to learn.

She has a Blackberry 7105t (fancy pda phone). The new Garmin will not wirelessly take the phone book from her phone. On her phone it is actually an "address book". Is anyone aware of a back door method to accomplish this task?

We have emailed Garmin but got no response yet, I imagine there are pretty busy.

Any info would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

XV6600 from Verizon

I pair the XV6600 with the Nuvi 370 with limited success. I cannot see the phone book through the Nuvi and have more success when I actually dial using the XV6600 to initiate the call. Clarity is excellent and when the connection stays connected it's a great feature. Hopefully Garmin will work on new firmware versions that support more features for more phones.

Help

I have a Treo 650 and I am having extreme trouble trying to connect with my Garmin 660. I am ready to throw this thing across the room...wait they BOTH cost too much. Help me.

LG VX8300

Verizon LG VX8300 works perfectly even though it is not in the supported phone list.

LG VX8300 working here too

In can confirm what NorthKiter says about the VX8300 - it's working fine for me, too. This is a phone that's not noted for it's stellar Bluetooth implementation, either. Phonebook, call history, voice dialing, all working great. Just can do text messages. The Nuvi is working much better than the Bluetooth headset I bought for this purpose!

Pairing through Bluetooth

Can I set the Nuvi 660 up to pair with my phone when I am driving in my car with the Nuvi and pair with my wife's when she has the Nuvi in her car?

Thanks

Yes

You can pair the 660 to both. But you can only use one at a time...When you power up, it will remember what it was paired to when powered down, and will try to reconnect to it first, so, you'll have to go to the settings to switch devices...hit the wrench on the main screen, then "bluetooth", then, the 'change' button at the top for connections, then you should see the two phones with select buttons - choose the one you want the 660 to be paired with, hit OK. When you & your wife are both in the car, you can use this method to select who's phone is in control, and change back & forth if you really want/need to...

Bluetooth Connection problems - Treo 650 / Nuvi

Try this: delete both connections on your Treo & Nuvi 660. Re-pair have the Treo find the Nuvi not the other way around. This should solve your problem. I also believe this will work better on all phones - also if it does not work delete on both and start over.

My current contract with

My current contract with Verizon ends next month and I am going to be looking to upgrade my phones to work with my nuvi 660. My question is, has anyone any suggestions as to the best phones to purchase to accomplish this feature of hands free calling.

My wife and I drive our motorhome to Alaska each summer to spend the time with our children and grandchildren who reside there. During our annual trip we receive and make many phone calls with our cell phones. So it would be so nice to be able to use the hands free calling, and know that my phone would be reliable.

Well, you definately want to

Well, you definately want to stay with Verizon. I have heard (but no experience) that razors aren't very good with Bluetooth on the nuvi.

I know that my razor sucks with my headset.

Thanks

I have only been on PIO Factory for a few days now. I have been finding most of the answers to my questions about my Nuvi 660.

One that had me stumped was pairing my 660 with my bluetooth phone. I fianlly was able to pair my 660 with my bluetooth phone.

Setup:
Nuvi 660
Verizon Motorazr2 V9m

Reading above posts I turned on Bluetooht to both devices. Then let the Razr2 V9m find the Nuvi. Worked like a charm.

I have yet tried sending the phonebook yet to the Nuvi. Small steps.

How to show icons on Nuvi 660?

Wil wrote:

You should have small icons next to each number...

a small (cell phone)for cell numbers
a small (house) for home numbers

That's what I have on the Nuvi as identifiers for different numbers

Hi, Wil:

How did you get these icons show up on your Nuvi 660? Will you please share with us? Mine has no icons for different numbers of the same person. Thanks

How did you do it?

Can not get my devices to pair now,

I have the 660 and Motorazr2 V9m (Verizon). I had the two paired up once now I can not.

I don't remember the steps I took to get them paired up before.

Try having the phone find the nuvi instead of the other way around.

ocalcutta Nuvi 360 & Cingular Treo 650

I have a 660 and a Treo 770w from Verizon. My phine had better luck in the past but now I have a similair problem on connections. I ahve found i can not use the Nuvi functions of touch screen or calling form the phone book. I hear it dial but the phone does not react. If i connect with the phone the bluetooth works for mic and speakers only.

Verizon 700W and Nuvi 360

I finally figured out how to pick and choose contacts from my Treo that would always transfer over to my Nuvi. On the Treo, because I didn't have the "Send Category" option everyone seems to be talking about (where the hell is that option!?) I had to go in to "Edit" each Contact that I wanted to be transfered to the Nuvi and change the Category from "No Categories" to "CarKit" (which seems to be packaged in with the Verizon Treo software). Once I did that and repaired the devices all those contacts showed up within a minute.... Hope this helps!

Nuvi 660 wont pair with Palm treo 750

I ran the webupdater for my Nuvi and My bluetooth version is 0.0. I dont think this can be right, my Razr seems to work well as does the Motorola Q although. Garmin told me there is a version 3.0 bluetooth that may help me out but I cant find it anywhere on their site, can someone help please? I've saw some posts who have the Nuvi 660 with different verzions of bluetooth, how does this happen?

Garmin WebUpdater

Try this if you havent already: http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

It is the garmin webupdater if you run it, it will first update the garmin software, but will eventually get to the bluetooth portion. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have already done this, but maybe you were given an incorrect link or something. I just ran this program on my Nuvi and all works well, good luck.

Yeah I did try that

Yeah I did try that initially, but desided to uninstall then reinstall incase I missed anything. Still runing Bluetooth sw version0.0 for the Nuvi 660. Is this the same model Nuvi you have and if so what version bluetooth do you have? I appreciate you getting back to me before!

Had Success

I have a the Nuvi 660 and the Treo 650 from Verizon. All documents show that full address book synch is not compatible, but they gives instructions to Beam the Contacts category to the gps. I've tried several times, it says complete, but they don't show up. Has anyone had any success using the "beam the ALL category" method for the contacts list?

I have the 660 and the Treo 700p from Verizon. Initially I could not get the address book over using "beam all". You have use "Send category" via Bluetooth after they've been paired. I have about 300 names and I finally realized that it takes some time for synching to complete. When I learned some patience, everything went over fine.

My one remaining annoyance is that when I turn on the 660 I have to "wake up the 700p before they will pair. Minor but annoying.

Minor Problems with Bluetooth Connection

I have a Blackberry and connect to my nuvi 660 with Bluetooth. It works great most of the time, but I have experienced a couple of minor problems.

It seems that if I do not shut down the connection before leaving the car, I get a "Phone Disconnected" message when I return. I have to turn the Blackberry off and back on again in order for the phone to "find" the GPS. This is not a big deal, except the message pops up on the GPS every 60 seconds!

I also have a satellite radio, and I encounter problems when operating both the radio and the Bluetooth at the same time. Although they use different FM bands, the Bluetooth seems to take about 10 - 15 seconds after switching to "lock in" on the phone signal. The person on the other end can hear me during this time, I cannot hear them. People sometimes hang up as I fiddle around - possibly getting tired of me saying "hello - hello" during the delay.

I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 660 for myself as a christmas present and I was just wondering if anyone has tried to use the text message feature with a T-Mobile HTC Dash yet. If so let me know if it works. Thanks!
