Sounds like something is not installed correctly. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

Try using Firefox instead of IE.

There are lots of known problems with IE, a major one being that it is the most targeted browser by malware and spyware. While MS has built IE so deeply into Windows that at least they say you can't cleanly remove it (and most hacks to "remove" it just delete the icons for it), whenever I set up a new Windows system I install a firewall (not the MS joke) and I configure the firewall to not let IE have Internet access, ever. I use Firefox almost exclusively, although if one wants a second browser there are still several other choices better than IE.

And yes, I too expect that this problem is either a user error or an IE problem.

There were issues a while back with one of the versions of Internet Explorer and the Garmin Communicator plug-in.

Firefox doesn't have any issues with it.
