Just got back from a nice trip

...to Monterey/Carmel. Crazy how it can be completely overcast, cold and drizzly right there on the coast, yet just a mile or two inland it's bright blue sunny skies and 20 degrees warmer.

We went there probably 25 years ago. It is a beautiful place. We loved just driving in the area. The rocks with all the bird poop were amazing to me.

When I heard the same about where I live, I was concerned.

This was the one time google couldn't help me.

But in retrospect, it wasn't true. I was thinking to myself, if folks' property taxes doubled in a year, or even went up 50%, the majority wouldn't be able to afford it. In my case the county was reassessing.

The net effect was there wasn't any increase, as assessment is revenue neutral. When the assessments doubled, the mill rates halved. The reason for the reassessments was that it hadn't taken place in 20 years, and the county needs to know, present day, what's out there, in the county. Not sure what's happening in St. Louis, prompting your warning.
