Best and Worst Birthdays

I turn 76 today and feeling a bit nostalgic, I thought back on the best and worst birthdays I've had so far.

The best by far was my 41st when I had my first date with the beautiful girl who is now my wife of 35 years. I guess fate had a way of making up for my worst birthday which was just a year earlier.

On my 40th, I hit a deer with my car on my way to work. I wasn't too far from home, so I limped back with the damaged car and took my pickup to work. On my way home that evening, another deer crossed the road right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and managed to miss the deer but the guy behind couldn't stop and rear ended my truck! Both my vehicles wrecked on the same day!

to add insult to injury, when I compared license information with the other driver, it turns out he had the same name as me! I couldn't make up this story if I wanted to!

Feel free to have some fun with this. grin What are your best and worst birthdays?

My best, not sure of worst

I’ve had 79 BD’s, but my best was receiving a telegram on my 17th telling me I was appointed to one of our Federal service academies. I often wondered if a Congressional aide noticed the date of my birthday, and purposely timed the notification for that day.

I’ve also skipped a birthday, in that while in the Navy I crossed the International Dateline in the direction where you skip a day. Of course that creates an imponderable; am I 79 or 78?

Best birthday

Getting married to my wife one week to the day earlier. Yahoo!!! (Been 50 years and 6 months now.) The worst: Being in Vietnam in 1967 on my 20th birthday. Not good!

8 years without a birthday

I don't have any that really stand out, so I'll reply in behalf of my long departed grandfather. He was born on Feb 29, 1892. Since 1900 was a year that did not have the February leap day added, he was a member of the 8 years without a birthday club. He was quite proud of being a member. When he passed away in his early 90s, he was one of a small handful of people left that had that distinction.

Birthdays.

I honestly don't remember anything of significance (good or bad) ever happening on any of my 75 birthdays. For me, my birthday is just another day of the year. Sometimes a few days pass by before I am reminded that I had another birthday. I guess that's why I have accidentally let my drivers license expire a couple of times.

Not really about a birthday,

Not really about a birthday, but a death day.

Dad was born in September - longest month in terms of length. Passed away in May, shortest month. Not sure there's anything significant about it, but did find it odd.

Holy crap!

My worst

My 30th birthday. Before it all began with 20!
Next all began with 30! Made it sound old.
But that was a lifetime ago.
