It's raining here

That is good news since we haven't had any rain for a couple of weeks.
It is windy enough to spin the windmill, too.

it's the little things

Yesterday night, I finally installed the microwave over the stove.

History--my buddy and I put one in 2004. From all the heat, it stopped working 2010.

So, from 2010 until now, there were two countertop microwaves, with the 2nd one being only from I think Jan 2022.

My wife asked me to remove the old microwave as it was literally deformed from 18 years of heat--the plastic melting, stainless trim peeling apart, etc. An eyesore. It was a bear to get off because it has two protruding hooks into the back, like a bookshelf bracket.

A $229 GE that actually looks really nice was delivered last Sunday, and throughout the week I looked at placement etc. The day it was delivered I screwed the bottom bracket into the wall hitting the studs with 2/4 screws.

So the fact that I finished it last night and freed up the counter space where the microwave was, has me in a good mood today. It's the little things.

Oh, and a guy at my Lowe's gave me a good tip. The bolts did not come with any washers, which hold it from above, so I went to Lowe's looking for large washers. They guy told me once he understood what I was doing, why don't you get 2 large washers, but also get 2 smaller ones since the head of the bolt is barely bigger than the hole of the large washer. I would not have thunk it. It was barely over $1 for 4 washers lol

And yes I knew the holes were gonna be off but I figured it out. It's not at all the template. It's the fact that the opening is not square, so the device cannot fit exactly the way the template does. It's the side wall and the side of the cabinet.....I love learning as I didn't pick this up when my buddy helped me in 2004...

Weather

Been cold, but will get warmer this weekend.

Nothing

from me at this time.

NYC and their stupid laws.

We had to have the maintenance guy up yesterday to install an air conditioner bracket. NYC requires every air conditioner to have a bracket to prevent it from falling out of the window. If it hasn't fallen out after 20 year what do I need the stupid bracket for? Politicians have nothing better to do than make everyone's life miserable with their stupid laws and regulations.

45 degrees

From memory there's usually a brace at a 45 degree angle to support a window AC unit in a hi rise. Do you mean you'd rather not have that and didn't have it before? My thoughts are it's different than a 1 or 2 story home meaning "if" the unit were to fall, the consequences are totally different. my .02

These days it seems mini splits are the way to go. It's interesting to see them high up on an exterior wall (the condenser).

Be prepared

Pack in some munchies and plan on some pee breaks. Long movie but very good.
