fun with gmail

I've had it since 2005, when we had to be "invited" to get an account lol

I decided we better spend the FSA dollars because as usual, unneeded.

It dawned on me when people say, "You can write it off," it's essentially that. It's not as if one is saving anything, it's just that one has legally obtained something pre-tax. This is another discussion but I have some sunglasses that are in the $800 range as a result of exhausting unused FSA dollars.

Anyway, back to gmail, all I wanted to do was to move a confirmation email from promotions, to the inbox. I'm looking online for directions lol

Should be intuitive.

Anwyay what one has to do is to be in the inbox. Then click the promotions tab on the top, find the email, and drag it to primary. More steps than there should be.

The other way, is to click the star if in the promotions folder.

To me, the more natural thing is to be in the promotions folder. Then, simply "move to" the inbox. But, there's no inbox to move it to. Also, every email in promotions is already in the inbox, as it says, inbox. So to me there's a filter so that promotions are excluded.

Net net is I'm sure there are people like me that when there's an important email that went to promotions, they would like it in the inbox. So again, access promotions from the inbox, then one can drag and drop up to primary. Don't start from the promotions folder.

The end. Boy if I were 14 I'd know all this stuff. It took me 5 minutes to figure it out--not good!

What device are you doing

What device are you doing this on?

On a desktop/browser, I can drag/drop from one folder to another without any difficulty.

I turn off the Promotions folder

You can disable or turn off the Promotions folder. I did that years ago with my Gmail account.

Try right click

On my gmail, running under Win 10, a simple right click brings up a "Move to" choice, as well as other options.

In that regard, many years ago, a programmer told me when you seek a feature, try a right click. Sometimes it is amazing what you will find!

Gmail? What's that?

Gmail? What's that?

Just kidding. I remember when one needed an invite to use Gmail. At the time, I said to myself "screw that" and I stuck with Yahoo mail. I'm still using Yahoo mail.

I don't use

I don't use gmail/yahoo/hotmail/etc for any important emails. All of these services scan/index/meta data your emails - no privacy. I have a domain I established nearly 20 years ago. Hosted by a small provider.

Costs a bit more (~$35USD/year for both hosting and domain reg), but well worth it.

I'm with you
