Alert Sounds

I want to install a different alert sound for Redlight Cameras and I see that there is a mp3 or Wav file, can someone tell me what the difference is ?

difference

mp3 or wav are two different sound files. There is no choice because almost all Garmin GPSs will only play wav files, not mp3.

If using wav files with a PC, a specific version of the file sox.exe must be added to the same folder in the PC where POI Loader is to help it load the wav sound.

Mac does not need sox.exe.

see charlesd45's excellent FAQ

To download and install the correct version of sox.exe, see charlesd45's excellent FAQ on this site:

Do you save the wave files

Do you save the wave files in the same file you store the POIs ?

Yes

Your POI should include 3 files all together in one folder.
1. the particular POI you want
2. A picture/photo file
3. A wave file.
All 3 should have the same name but the extension will be different, ie GPX, Jpg and wav extensions.

For many POI's there are a selection of pictures and sounds available here in POI factory.

all three the same filename

It can be:

Redlight Cameras.BMP
Redlight Cameras.wav
Redlight Cameras.csv

or it can be any name that has redlight in it, as long as all three files are the same filename. I don't think upper or lower case makes any difference, but why tempt fate? Also, do not include any numbers in the filename because it will create a speed file which is a different kind of proximity alert. Source - POI Loader help.

NOT the same name !

You do not have the same name, you actually have three different names. They need to be as dobs108 wrote
