New Garmin Maps ... 2022.1, what's better?

So the new maps are out and so far.. in my area it seems they have mapped every parking lot, thanks but in a parking lot I can navigate without a map.

That top bar which shows the "Road Ahead".. now is showing me the road I am on a lot more than the previous version.

It still.. misses a lot of "Roads Ahead", skipping major intersections and jumping to minor ones several blocks ahead.

About 2~3 years ago there was a feeble start to include school zones in the Edmonton area.. that seems to have been abandoned with nothing new added.

Footpaths in parks seem to be included, not sure that's needed in an automobile GPS.

And it's only been a couple of days.

Thank you for the update.

Thank you for the update. I’ll be driving around Miami-Dade in two weeks so I’ll be able to see if there are any updates since I was last there.

I'd actually find that feature useful. I remember a few years back looking for a restaurant in Charleston SC. The GPS said I was in the right place but my wife and I could not find the place. Finally we called and they sent someone out to our car. Turns out the restaurant was down a corridor in the shopping center.

I thought that was a no brainer. Not on the outside, look in the mall.

Quoting Speed2 "I thought that was a no brainer", perhaps not..

Perhaps not a no brainer. I'm not from Charleston and it is not the first time I found an incorrect address on the web or one within something like FourSquare. In addition it was like a strip mall, with entry points on both sides of the building. It happened today in fact, the address on the web was about 400 feet from the facility.

If i owned Garmin

I would like the parking lot on a layer one could turn off. To me it clutters the screen.

hmmm

I may as well go get the device and update it....

I keep it updated but rarely use it and never for navigation, sometimes for RLC in an unfamiliar place

p.s. my first Garmin broke in only 3 years and cost over $500.

The one I have now is 11! And cost like $250.

Asks about toll roads for the first time

I drive daily in the Seattle-Tacoma area and was surprised for the first time to be asked if I wanted a route with toll roads and if it should remember this selection. This is not the entire freeway or road just 1-2 lanes on some interstates in most cases.

Avoidances

Somewhere in your device menu you should have a section called "Avoidances". Using that you can disable the use of toll roads and/or express lanes. Express lanes might have separate entrances and exists as well as tolls.

Usually the setting can be found by following the steps below:
To locate the Avoidance menu:

1. Touch Tools
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Navigation
4. Touch Automobile or Car
5. Touch nuRoute
6. Touch Avoidances
7. Touch the desired Avoidance to enable it or disable it.

Enable or disable based on your driving habits. I see you are from Seattle-Tacoma so one of the choices is to use or not use ferries.

If you can't find the avoidances, post the model GPS and someone can probably be a bit more specific.
