Dash NAV vs Garmin

Used to be, my GPS stayed perched on the dash if I was in the car. Now, with the built in NAV, I seldom use it. Although I do refer to it when going out of my comfort zone. What, a 100 mile radius? Or something like that. Finding a single point is fairly easy and straight forward, the search leaves a lot to be desired. It won’t search in Favorites, nor will it recognize a Favorite by name in search. Adding a destination is awkward since the keyboard is disabled while moving. And if I knew the street address, I wouldn’t be using search.

So, that’s why the Garmin stays in easy reach. Anymore, I’ve been using Apple Play to do Google Map because you can show the Satellite view and the Green lines for clear traffic are noticable. And that is an advantage over the Garmin and the built-in.

don't

have a car new enough for Apple etc.

But I use Google Maps exclusively. Again, it's the fact that it's in real time.

We rode in my wife's bff's Audi mid 2019 and her car had the Apple play and I thought wouldn't it be nice.

Maybe when I get my Grand Wagoneer...(j/k looks nice)
