A bit of help with 3597 Please

I've got a 3597 and it's got a totao 400 Mb free space.

I'm certain others have encountered this but what files / directories can I get rid of?

I'd like to recover as much space on the 3597's internal memory as possible.

Is there a post somewhere in here describing what's required?

Thanks in advance

On the other hand, if you add an 8GB SD card to the 3597 and you can keep everything and not worry again about storage. In past map updates, I found my 3597 placed the JCV file in the SD card but with the current map update just offered, I see that the map is on the SD card with the JCV and other files on the 3597.

Has worked for Ours

We have two 3597 units here, each with an 8 GB card, and have taken no time to delete anything ever.

Good luck

I had one of those, lets see what i can remember.
Empty directory Eula directory completely.
The Text Directory delete everything except us and so on. The whole idea is to go through the whole unit including the hidden .system directory and find language files. The keyboard directory only needs to have us keyboard or any other if you happen to speak another language and wish to keep it. Its pretty simple. en_US.kbd<<<<

Just use an 8GB micro SD card

Everything will be fine.

sD card

Just add the SD card and never worry about it again. Garmin Express will not use the card until the last minute, but it will use the SD card eventually.

Thanks all

Thank you to all.

My goal was really trying to clean up a garmin mess.

I have 2 3597's.

While both have 32GB microsd cards, my goal was more about starting to install (_CLONE_) new maps onto the Microsoft card instead of the 3597 proper.

I've managed to install the latest maps onto the Microsoft card.

While I was at it, I decided I'd do some performance testing.

So I formatted the Microsoft card with various sector sizes ( default 32k ) formatted with everything from the smallest to the largest sector size and ( I expected this ) each time I increased the size of the sector, the GPS when booted took less and less time to become available for use.

That being the case, now I'm curious where POI's and other things might get loaded.

So I'd really enjoy having a detailed list of what files I needed to have on the "internal storage" of the GPS.

Thanks in advance
