Garmin not responding to touch

I just did an update and now my Nuvi 765 will not respond to any touch.
However, ONCE it did respond when I touched Tools.
How do I fix this?

thanks charles It did get to

thanks charles
It did get to the press dot screen, but it won't respond when I press the dot. I had to plug it into the cable to get it off that screen.
I have to charge it now because it won't respond to the battery low screen.
Obviously, it responds sometimes, not others. It got to the press dot screen. It responded once to pressing tools. But that is it. Nothing else works anyplace on the screen.
It previously worked, so I suspect a bad sw load. How can I get it to reload?

Give it a long charge

My suggestion?

If you're getting a Battery Low screen, don't do anything before giving it a full charge, overnight or more from a low-current AC adapter or several hours of high current charging from your Garmin cigarette lighter power cord in a vehicle.

After the recharge, Start

After the recharge, Start the unit, then press and hold the Power Off button until the unit shuts off and continue holding till the unit restarts.

I'm impressed a unit 10+

I'm impressed a unit 10+ years is still working. If it's still acting up after the calibration attempt, perhaps time to upgrade.

I got rid of my 750/765 years ago. Too slow and too small. Unfortunately my eyes haven't improved in the last decade, so bigger == better.

it is my wife's. She is slow

it is my wife's. She is slow and small also, so it fits her just fine. I may have to give her the 1490. It mostly works but has developed the spontaneous reset problem. I have a 3597 which I like a lot. HOWEVER, it is now telling me it has an "incompatible audio file".
What's that all about?

Audio files

On the 3597 run WebUpdater or Garmi Express to make sure you have the latest update. Last resort,do hard reset but make sure to save your favorites(saved places) before doing the hard reset. You will lose them. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/26136

it was bad vpm files. I have

it was bad vpm files. I have no idea what changed but I can't open them in ttsvoiceeditor either. Actually, I can't open the good ones anymore either. I had to open them in a hex editor and figure out how to disable RECALCULATING. I think I got it on the real voice files but not the real direction files. Need to work on that.

Voices

Your older nuvi 765LMT and nuvi 1490LMT used a different voice engine than the 3597 which uses TTS3 voices. I don't think there ever was a voice editor that could modify TTS3 voices. If an editor was created, I'm not aware of it. Also, if this applies to you, voices from your older nuvis can't be used on the 3597 as far as I know in case you copied files to the 3597.
