Multiple Maps on RV 760LM

I have a RV 760LM and a Nuvi 1490LM. With the 1490, I am able to install the latest map (i.e. 2021.20) and reload the previous map (i.e. 2021.10) and select the map that I would like to use. I also have both JCV files installed. I do this to make sure that I have a functional backup in case there are problems with the latest map.

If I follow the same process with the RV 760LM, the additional map will not show up in MyMaps on the device. It writes over the older map and will only leave one map on the device. The only way I have been able to install a previous map has been to use Mapinstall and select all maps. This is a bit of a chore and also leaves me without Junction View.

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish having the latest and previous maps on the 760?

Well

I'm not sure how you're getting two maps onto your 1490, and the only methods I know wouldn't allow you to have the appropriate .jcv files. If you use Express it should overwrite the older map, so you must be using a different method and that should work for your 760.

My process for loading two

My process for loading two maps on the 1490 is as follows:

Due to space limitation with the 1490, all maps are installed on an SD card. The latest maps are named gmapupdate and contain a .img, .gma, and a .unl file. The JCV file is also located in a /Garmin/JCV location on the SD card. The maps are in a direction noted as /Maps. After each update, I download copies of these 4 files to my home computer. The update using express will write over the gmapupdate files. After that is completed, I change the previously downloaded file name to something like gmapsupp and upload them along with the associated JCV file to the SD card. When I boot up the 1490, the most recent update and the previous map are both available (i.e. 2021.20 and 2021.10).

My purpose in doing this is to assure that newest version will function correctly and if not, I simply uncheck the new one and check the old one.

Unfortunately, this process does not work with the 760. I can still install a previous map but it will not show up on the reboot. The only way that I can get the map to show is to use Mapinstall which is very slow and requires selecting all map segments. The good news is that the JCV file associated with that version can be side loaded and will work with that map, if selected.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.
