I lost my yellow sheet

I have a 680 and can't find my yellow sheet. I posted on another board and was answered with the ID, registration number, and unloc code should be in a Garmin xml file. I looked at my file last night and it only has an ID number. I bought the 680 0n 4/21/2007. How will I be able to get a map update?

Yellow card

Garmin uses this method to make sure that you have purchased this unit and it is not stolen (explained to me by a Garmin rep). If the unit is stolen, they will try to get it back, if registered, and turn it over to the police. If it is NOT registered, they have no way to prove that you or anyone else bought it legally.

GPS units are the single most stolen item in cars in the US right now. This registration process is in order to protect us, and the yellow card is a unique number to that GPS.

I lost mine, threw it away. I had to fax a proof of purchase in to Garmin and they called me back in order to help me register. The guy I talked to even registered it for me, after...AND ONLY AFTER...I proved that it was legally purchased.

I think this is a good thing, I feel like they are doing this to help us, and to help prevent theft.

Update, actually I had

Update, actually I had registered the 680 and somehow their system could not find it because they had my name, address, and everything already. So, believe it or not. this morning bright and early I got an email from Garmin tech support with my yellow sheet registration number. It showed all my info but when I went to mygarmin they had the purchase date as December 20, 2006. Simply amazing since the 680 only came out in March 2007. So I emailed them back and they corrected the date.
