...and are waiting to treat us with a new update on Halloween.

...for either a late December or an early January update. I believe they are moving to a twice a year schedule. (But, I could be wrong.)

On the last map update, 2019.20, I checked in early morning with my Nuvi and no update was available. A couple of hours later I believe it was alanb that started a thread with the announcement that the 2019.20 was available. So, if you check too early in the day, you might miss the update.

I think Garmin is going to two updates per year. It never made any sense to me for Garmin to have an update every 90 days.

Makes sense to me. Especially since they seem to be fazing out automotive units (other than the ones built into cars).

I never get any notifications from Garmin when a new map is available.

So thanks to you all for keeping us unformed !

Well I changed my best guess I decided there will be no more updates this year so everyone check back January 2019

I guess this is the new Chit Chat Thread.

The only way I get notification for new maps is to hook up my GPS to my computer with Garmin Express. If there is any other way to find new maps, other than in forums, I don't know about it.

My nuvi usually indicates when the map is old, but I think it has to be more than a year old. Once it told me I had an old map when it was the latest one out but went away once satellite reception was reestablished.

Thanksgiving travel is fast approaching. New maps soon would be great.

Not knowing where you may be traveling during Thanksgiving, but do you really (REALLY) expect to be benefited by a newer map versus the last map you have on your Garmin, which is just a few months old?

Come on Garmin, Santa will be needing the new update soon.

Garmin's revenue from 'Auto' related sales has been declining for some time. Standalone GPS devices for automobiles are going the same route as phone booths. You seldom see anyone with a standalone GPS device in their vehicles anymore...

have many had a stand alone Garmin stolen lately ? I leave mine on the dash anymore it looks old and tattered LOL . I think they are letting stand alone gps's die a quiet death . Garmin has other interests that make money cell phones and built in auto GPS have taken a toll on stand alone GPS sad I loved the poi's and other things about them !

Regarding “Never see them” anymore.....
Except me. I rely on it because it has always been far more accurate than the lump of silicon in my 2011 escape

I suppose that depends on where you are. In rural State of Maine, we see them a lot.

We'll be on a ship at Huatalco, Mexico when Thanksgiving rolls around. I won't be using a GPS to drive anywhere. I may well use my old Gamin 78s to find a geocache there though.

You cannot possibly see a lot of standalone GPS devices in rural Maine...because there are not a lot of people in rural Maine.

If Garmin is counting on catering to people living in remote or rural areas of the country their 'Auto' related sales units, revenue and profit will plummet faster than Venezuela's currency.

...my standalone Garmin to the built-in unit in my Azera. A lot better and not near as costly to update.

Well, those rural areas are where there is little to no cell service are where an auto GPS would be very much desired or even needed. And I wouldn't travel in a rural area anymore without a GPS loaded with mapping.

I've done several cross country treks and a GPS with onboard mapping is necessary. I've gone for days with no to spotty cell service, as in a few minutes of service a day for days or weeks on end. So these rural areas are indeed prime GPS with loaded maps markets. The population density isn't so high, but those living there, or traveling through there, should have a GPS.

New map will be out next year or page 10 whichever comes first.

My new 50 LMT-HD worked absolutely wonderful for most of my 3,500 mile trip. But since a now over one year old toll road south of Guadalajara is not yet part of the map I got the constant telling me to turn right right now. Maybe it'll be on in April when I drive home again.

What did not impress me was the HD traffic In over 2,000 plus miles driving in the USA. Of course the stupid built in Garmin based Nav is really useless.

My original guess would have been October, so if it's not here in November, it's a long stretch between releases.

Those GPS units are on the dashes of the tourists bringing their litter into the pristine environment.

Should I bother updating my map from 2019.10 to 2019.20 or just wait for .30? It should be out pretty soon.

Of course! Why let a map update go to waste?
