New Garmin handhelds?

I'm looking at buying the Garmin Oregon 700 soon but am wondering if I should hold off for January? Do you think that they will come out with a newer model? I plan on buying their 24k topo maps as well.

New Hand Helds

Maybe, but it's hard to say.

It has been a while since they came out with some new models.

Not quite

Recently released the GPSMap 66

Where there's a will ... there's a way ... DriveSmart51LMT-S, DriveSmart50LMT-D, Nuvi 2508LMT-D, 1490LMT, 1310, Montana 650T, Etrex 20

Thank you

That looks like, I'm trying to decide between that and the Oregon. My current hand held is a touch screen but very small and I've never used a non-touch Garmin unit. I would think that in the winter this be the preferred way to navigate.

Well ...

I have both a touchscreen and button operated GPS, and prefer the button operated one.

Physical button is much better

I don't like the touch screen on those.

66

The GPSMAP 66 just came out. That is the venerable Garmin platform. I've had the 60CSX and the 64S now. Great devices. I'd recommend the 66 series.

I had the Montana, with the touch screen. I prefer the 60/64/66 instead.

Map ?

I'm going to by the 66st; If I buy the 24k top for my region, I can overlap the builtin 100k topo with the 24k, right? Meaning, if I go outside of the 24k region, it'll show the 100k builtin.

I believe so

I believe you would be correct.

Before you buy the 24K topo map, check out this site:

https://www.gpsfiledepot.com/.

There may be a free topo map version available for your area. Maps are free to download but a donation is requested. Maps are legal to use on Garmin products.

Like the Garmin product, the native 100K map will display if you are outside the 24K area.

Oregon

I think the Oregon line is getting kinda old. Might want to wait for a refresh, or go with the 66.
