Garmin map update 2019.11 now out.

If I recall correctly, Garmin's terms say something to the effect that if one does not update a lifetime maps device at least every two years, they consider it abandoned and the lifetime expired. Since I recently updated, I'll pass on this one and wait for the next release.

GE shows 2019.11 for my 765T, 2797 and 770 plus a software update for the 770. Installing now.

I just did 2019.10 within the last month...don't want to upgrade unless it fixes something or there are noticeable changes

Downloaded/installed - no issues. DriveSmart 50 shows 2019.11

If you downloaded the original 2019.1 not the two following updates, the A is valid. If you downloaded either of the two subsequent updates, then the B version is valid.

Maybe i'll wait for C since i don't have B...lol
BTW we are talking about the Large junction file?

Has Garmin Ever answered what people who installed 2019.10 in January are supposed to do? I haven't discovered anything bad (Nuvi 660 and 2x 2689LMT's), but my inquiring mind certainly wants to know!

Have installed 2019.11 however myMap shows:
- CN North America NT, 2019.10 Parkioedia
- CN North America NT, 2019.10 Foursquare
- CN North America NT, 2019.11 ALL

Have unchecked all but the 2019.11 ALL but not sure what's going on? Any idea?

I installed the new maps on my both device yesterday and both are working fine.

Leave them all checked. The map data base and software was updated, but the two POI files weren't. All three are required for the unit to fully function properly.

Does Garmin ever issue "release notes", particularly when it issues an out-of-sked release?

Looks like Gamin is messing again with updates. I don't think there will be any problem with updating to next map version, as every time you have to download whole map. There is no incremental update from version to version.

But what worrying me is that updates are getting messed up again and you don't know if next update will not bricks your device until fix will come. There was problem of this sort with firmware update if I remember correctly. Those problems isn't something that will give Garmin good name.

As I am in LA now I found a small problem.
As you enter certain turns in the back roads of the city the upcoming turns are garbled. One such turn comes up as "turn left at ***Chevron } Before entering the intersection it will correct naming the intersection turn so no loss if you drive slow enough. The intersection had a Cheveron station on it. This also happened at school stops.

All very confusing. Will wait for next release.

updating a Nuvi 2598 now.

I wish they would just keep adding to the decimal portion of the name until they finally roll around to where the YEAR was correct!

The 2019.10 update just seemed off and I could not pinpoint the problem so I'll update.

I suspect one problem with the original January release of 2019.10 has to do with Junction Views in certain areas. There may be other issues as well.

What led me to this conclusion was when I was doing some simulations to test for CraigW's tunnel mode thread. I did some simulations in NYC using both my 3597 which had the original Jan. release and the Driveluxe 50 which had the updated March release. I was seeing some junction views on the Driveluxe that didn't show up on the 3597 and I don't think that should have happened. I suppose it could be due to differences in the two models, but I think it is more likely because of differences in the map versions. I have not rerun these simulations since I updated the 3597 to 2019.11, so can't say for sure that this was fixed by that update.

As you know the WARNING do not shut off the computer or disconnect the device while the map installation is in progress, well yesterday halfway trough the installation the power company showed up to trim the trees in the backyard and disconnected power to our side of the street, luckily I rushed over to the PC and turned off everything including the monitor, sound system, WiFi router and left only the CPU connected to the UPS, the good news the battery held the CPU running for about 20 minutes and saved my GPS or so I thought.

Has this ever happen to you in the middle of a map update? what happens if the power actually goes off? does it bricks the GPS? or does the map installation continues were it left off once the power returns?

Did the update to both units and computer, no problems so far.

Not going to bother. The last updated map 2019.10 works for me on my 1390T and 2495LMT.

Just updated to 2019.11 on my Nuvi 2639. My Maps shows CN North America 2019.11 but 4 Square shows CN North America 2019.10. I have not updated my twin Nuvi 67s and 65 yet

Will Garmin Express show new updates beyond 2019.11 if we did not update our Garmin devices to 2019.11?

In other words, does the update order matter in order to get new updates from Garmin Express?

I have the re-released (second clean fixed version of the map with same old file name) version of the 2019.10 map updates, and just like many people here on this forum, I think I should wait for the next update.

I fear that I will not be able to see the next new update since I did not update to 2019.11.

Does Garmin allows for people to skip updates, and is the Garmin Express software flexible enough for this to be possible?

I am using Garmin Nuvi 56.

If you don't want to update to 2019.11 ... don't. The next update will be offered to you just like it is to those who updated to 2019.11. It is not uncommon to skip an update or two. Many people do it.

Does anyone know what the map file 2019.10 Parkioedia contains ?

Finally got around to updating my maps.

Nuvi 2597 shows CN North America NT 2019.11 with a check mark .Nothing else showing.

Nuvi 265 shows CN North America NT 2019.10 with a check mark.Plus (1) North America NT 2019.11 with no check mark ,or a way to check it.

The map correction didn't effect your 265. It did the 2597.

Update went fine with no glitches.

The problem is that I went on a 10 hour trip and the map directions were confusing at times. Garmin had me exiting off the interstate and then getting back on at the same exit. Directions were to go off the exit ramp and then get back on the merge ramp. Other weird directions included me going through downtown Atlanta instead of staying on the bypass interstate.

Comparing these directions to Google maps, Google Maps kept me on interstates and never showed any of the weirdness I am now seeing with Garmin. I am getting worried that it may be time to retire the Garmin. I just do not want to pay for unlimited data plans for my phones.
