Mapinstall

Just had a pleasant revelation. I completely uninstalled BaseCamp from my Mac in order to cleanup some files I had imported and couldn't get rid of. To my surprise, when I downloaded and installed BasCamp, MapInstaller, and MapManager were both installed.

I don't know why Garmin would do that.

Well ...

In Windows MapInstall has always been installed with BaseCamp. Can't comment on Macs.

Hmmm

In order to get the most out of Basecamp, it needs maps. BaseCamp isn't that useful without maps. So it kinda makes sense to bring MapInstaller and MapManager too.

I don't think any of those three programs have been updated in ages. That makes me nervous.

Garmin needs to do a better job educating the users as to what each program can do, benefits, is used for, etc.

I haven't used MapManager in ages. I only use MapInstall when a map update happens.

I wonder what I'm missing.
