Just shows how out of touch I am on GPS technology. Back from 2008 to around 2013 I was really into getting updates, checking my device, etc. It seems the last three years life has changed my priorities. Three years ago I would have had this update 20 minutes after it was released LOL.

I start losing track of versions. LOL

There was no difference in the new upload. I moved from Iowa to southern AZ and Garmin and my built in car 2016 GPS system sometimes would tell mefrom 1 block away to 3 blocks away. I was home and the system wlould tell me I had a block to go. The community I live in was built in 2003 so it should by now be included by the new maps.

I'm confused by this. Is the neighborhood showing on the maps or not? Can you get this map update for the in-dash GPS? Usually they only update once a year. Is it set to a numerical address or coordinates?

That was the question I had as well.

I know there will be others who can explain this better than I can but municipalities do not divide streets into addresses which spaced evenly by distance. But, when maps are produced, there often must be interpolation between numbers, so it would not be surprising to find addresses 500 to 1000 feet off.

If I look on Google for my address, it put the "marker" about 150 feet away in my backyard as opposed to, say, my mailbox on the street.

Another problem is the accuracy which you are getting with your GPS. Perhaps you can let us know exactly what the accuracy you are getting on your various devices usually are.

That's why two of us have asked you, kurz..., if you have your home identified by street address or by coordinates (i.e., park in your driveway and save the location as Home). Coordinates is the way to go, especially with the older Garmin devices (probably including your nuvi 1490) that use the logic addressing method.

Finally updated my nuvi 50.

Haven't yet used it to see if I notice any changes.

Took about 30 minutes.

Finally installing... Nuvi 765 already done with MapUpdater, no problems except the "files not installed to computer" error mentioned by others. Not sure how long it took - started it and went to bed, it ran overnight and was ready in the am. Running on the Nuvi 760 now, plan to do the same again, though had checked the "don't delete installation files" option the first time, so it doesn't have to download the huge file all over again. It finished step one and two in just a few minutes.

I feel left behind... I haven't had the time to do the update yet.

i live in East London and 6 months ago some of the roads were turned into cycle only roads, so many with blocked off to cars. i have just bought the latest Garmin Drivesmart 60 LMT. and updated the maps to the latest 2017.30.. but still the sat nav wants to take me down the roads that are blocked and have been for 6 months. I starting to regret getting this garmin now

Maybe Globe Turtle could "Lock" the previous map release thread once the next version comes out. This would prevent this from happening.
