Price drop on DriveSmart 61LMT-S

I see the stores dropped the price down to $199 for this unit.. I bought one from Amazon last week and paid $249...
Being just released this spring I wonder if there are hardware issues etc that are realized and they are offing them fast to come out with a better one. Just seems odd so I wonder.
I didn't like the speaker pretty much tin sounding or shallow compared to the dezl and 2797 I had. And wonder if this is an issue they have with the unit so I returned it and ordered another one hoping the speaker will be better. Doubt it thou probably from the same batch. At least I got my $50 back.. No price correction protection at Amazon.

Yes it's just not Amazon so something is up.. Some may say phones, etc is killing the market..but I think it's more then that. Too soon a drop in pricing.

Most Reviews are Favorable

I think it's just temporary, or Garmin might be releassing something better soon. I've had the unit for almost 3 months now, and there are no major issues I've noticed.

However, this still kinda pisses me off. I paid $270 back in late March.

there

was a time when amazon honored price adjustments, simply an email and they would credit. Not anymore, they've become bullies which is why many don't order from them (daily prices fluctuate, from $40 to $78 to $60 etc.). But yes, they are a super successful co. that can execute their processes. I don't want to do advertising for anyone, but there are other authorized dealers who know do everything that amazon once did. The one I'm thinking of has two letters separated by &

No major issues either

Mine has worked flawless too. Except for the icon issue I posted..not sure about the wifi map upgrade crashing on me yet.. probably my weak wifi signal.

It's nice...

I just grabbed it as soon as it was advertised as $199 at Bestbuy. At first I got issues such as unexpected shutdown and one time it froze on me. I did the reset and download the updates but the issue still persist. On a 3rd day(before returning) I decided I will try it for two more days then on the 4th day, it doesn't shutdown or freezes anymore. I traced back what I did that might fix the issues but cannot seems to figure out until I noticed my Iphone blu tooth was off. I tried turning in it on and paired it again, voila problem came back. I deleted my Garmin Smartphone Link App and re-downloaded it again. After pairing, up to this point I never experienced the same issues again.

mine has been fine except for the icons of favorites showing..I would love to be able to turn that off. Ive used it alot.

Could be they just priced it too high

to begin with and sales were slower than should be expected. Anytime you buy early there's always the chance you pay to much. Garmin nowadays has a lot more competition and they certainly didn't lower the price out of sympathy.

Every retailer has pros and cons. I had good experiences with B & ? and I also had bad experiences with them as well.

I was going to buy another one for backup. They must of confused it for the 61Drive..and listed it as such in pricing until they got smart.

Could be

Could be but it looks like it would have to have been a Garmin pricing issue as all the places I'd checked that had it for $199.99 are now back up to $269.99

Temporary price drop

Maybe they had some excess inventory they needed to clear out.
