bad update ??? (shows only main streets)

If you zoom in, you should be able to see the smaller streets.

It sounds like you have only the Base Map installed/selected. Check which maps are installed on the unit and which maps are selected (enabled) by looking at Map Info on the unit.

The older devices listed available maps under MapInfo while the newer ones use myMaps. Go to whichever yours has and see what listed.

With luck, City Navigator North America is there but unchecked. The solution is to check it.

If City Navigator NA isn't there checked or unchecked, then your recent Map Update failed and you'll need to reinstall the map update. Garmin Express will give you the option to reinstall a map it thinks is already on your unit.

Before reinstalling the map update, try shutting down and restarting the nuvi - not just sleep. After that, look to see whether the map is checked like Craig says.

During the map update process, Garmin Express reboots the nuvi automatically after the update, but more than once for my nuvi, that failed to happen, so I manually restarted the nuvi.

I restored the GPS and reistalled the maps and now seems to be alright.Thanks for inputs guys !!!
