While I was recently out of the country at the beginning of November, Comcast [Infinity] closed down it's non-business users' web hosting service where my Garmin GPS - Tricks, Tips, Work Arounds, Hints, Secrets and Ideas web site that has been in operation since 2007 was housed.
Several of you have written to me about not being able to access the popular site and wondered if it has been closed.
I am pleased to announce that I have been able to re-locate the 'Garmin Tricks & Tips' site in a temporary location while searching for a permanent web housing home.
You can reach it at:

or

While most of the scores of article tips were written in the time period of older nuvis, many POI Factory and general Garmin GPS users report that a majority of the help articles still apply to newer Garmin devises.
I intend to keep the site alive as an archive of helpful nuvi articles.
Take a peek if you are new or haven't visited in a while.

glad to see
to see you back Gary. Hang around for a while as your sense of humor is so great (and often low-key).

Thanks Gary
I often use your site to refresh my memory on obscure topics

Thank you
I've learned a lot from you site about the workings of my nuvi. We are all keenly aware that different features of these devices morph over time in addition to some going away and new ones appearing. A project like yours will always be a work in progress and I know many who have visited your site appreciate the time you have put into this.

Treasure Trove
I tripped onto your site when I got my first gps (a Magellan Roadmate, I think it was called).
I thoroughly enjoy the richness of your information!

Gary, Glad to See You're Back
I have used your tips many times over the years and have always found them very useful. When I want to learn something new, I can always go to your tips and, next thing you know, I have put some more useful information in my head. Thanks again for all of your work.

I really want to thank you for all those great comments that you have added to my thread here. I was greatly surprised and pleased that some of you 'old timers' remembered the Garmin Tricks and Tips web site - now relocated at:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17659207/GARMIN.TnT/inde...
or
http://tinyurl.com/GARMIN-TNT
I do remember some of the IDs
It was loads of fun putting all that information together over the years. I also want to thank the POI Factory contributors who added interesting articles and hints into the mix.
I don't have information on the new Garmins so I haven't been able to continue exploring hem as I really need to have the units in hand before I can personally test and write about them and their use. But, that is the way it goes. Time marches on to new coordinates.
I intend to look here often as I feel I am way behind in modern GPS knowledge. Fortunately my nuvi 3790LMT is still going strong and offering me great service.
Talk to you again in the Garmin area.

Thanks much!
Glad to see your new site up and running. Comcast shut my site down too. Lucky I received an email from them back in August advising me of their plans, so got a new Internet address and site in time for the Comcast shut-down.
