The City of Tucson is no longer issuing tickets from the 8 RL & speed cameras within city limits. The cameras are still on and recording though...

Thanks!

We're keeping our eye on this. Because the cameras are still present and operating we plan to keep them in our content until they officially go dark.

Sounds like you live or have lived in Tucson and know how shady Pima County and Tucson Government is,lol

So far, so good

People were spotting and photographing the people who maintain these cameras doing "something" to the cameras the day after the city announced it was no longer ticketing drivers at these locations. The assumption is that they were turning the cameras off. I think that their removal is expected to start happening next week.

Hopefully others follow suit

Maybe this will start a trend

I think they are "refreshing

I think they are "refreshing the system" meaning the revenue is not there and letting people get lax and then when they see the revenue is there again to start issuing citations again.

I think they might try the trick other communities are trying

They keep the cams going but do have (or claim to have)a hidden LEO witnessing the Cams operation. This would make the cam tickets legal per the new law. Sleazy, but thats Tucson.

the cameras were turned off last Thursday the 5th of November

The City officially announced that the cameras were turned off last Thursday the 5th of November.

The television news here in Tucson also reported that they were off on the news broadcasts the evening of the 5th.

Laws of Average in Arizona

Between Tucson going out (lucky people) and Paradise Valley going way ahead of the pack, Arizona is an about average state.
