Installing Camera Files

== Save the Camera Files onto Your Computer ==

If you have any older camera files saved on your computer, it’s best to delete them before downloading the new ones. Otherwise, you can end up with extra copies and get duplicate alerts. (The camera files are called “redlight-cameras” and “speed-cameras”.)

To download the new files, click on the link for a camera file and then SAVE the file to a folder in your computer. Do this for both files.

- Don’t save them on your GPS.
- Don’t open the files; just save them in a folder.

== How to Install for a Garmin GPS ==

To transfer the files onto your Garmin, you’ll need Garmin’s POI Loader software. If it’s not already installed on your computer, you can get it from Garmin's web site:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99...

== Transfer to your GPS ==

Once you have the camera files saved in a folder on your computer, you're ready to connect your GPS and run the POI Loader software to transfer them to your GPS.

Start Menu > All Programs > Garmin > POI Loader

The default choices work well for most users.

A few screens in, POI Loader asks which folder contains the files you want to install. This spot is a little tricky for new users because it shows the folders but not the files inside them. At that screen, make sure you're pointing at the right folder (usually the Downloads folder or wherever you’ve saved them); and POI Loader will allow you to proceed to the next screen if it finds any usable files inside.

Next, POI Loader will transfer all of the POI files it finds in that folder to your GPS and will show "Congratulations, you have successfully installed nnnn locations."

== ON THE GPS ==

After you've transferred the files to your GPS with POI Loader, you can see them at one of these two locations (depending on the model):

Where to? > Categories > Other / Custom POIs

Or

Where to? > Extras > Custom POIs

If the files are installed, this will show the 50 nearest locations for each file.

When you see screen Find Device make sure you select your device.

If using the Memory Card use the pull down Device window to select it.

If you have not already done it. You may want to put your unit into mass storage mode. See. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/41416

Use a SD card to install them on. Look at number 14 on http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 about memory card.

What is MTP Mode and how to change to Mass Storage (Garmin)

Since your unit has 8G of internal memory, I do not think that your unit is full. When you get the device into Mass Storage mode on your computer, what does it say about used and free memory?
