Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – January 2015

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Brrrrrrr

Woke up this morning to 5 degrees on Long Island. That is pretty chilly for us. I know it is probably like a heat wave for some of you guys out there. Stay warm and safe.

winnipeg to minneapolis

So many errors on the 1490lmt with the 2015.30 maps and now the current speed locks and stays at a random speed until you touch it and show the trip info, then the current speeds stays correct for and hour plus...the freezes again.

1490LMT

@visiter555 ... How much free space do you have on your nuvi? The 14xx nuvi's are notorious for being short on space. If that isn't the problem, you might try clearing your trip log and doing a hard reset. That often clears up problems like this.

Road trip Chicago to Atlanta

Has anyone driven this route since the first of the year?
I'm driving from Chicago to Atlanta and just wanted to know how bad I65 and further south are. I24 then I75. I know about Nashville and Atlanta traffic but is there other stuff I should plan for? Black ice, construction?

Thanks in advance!

construction

I show construction south of Nashville from exit 66 to 97. Your best bet is to call 511 as you enter each state for the latest information.

The maps are all on a 8GB microSD card and there are zero add ons (vehicles etc) so plenty of space on the 1490 and the card is 60% empty.

"New" Nuvi 2455LMT

I just picked up a Refurbished Nuvi 2455LMT for $69 from Cabelas outlet store. Looked brand new out of box. I slipped in an 8Gb micro SD card and ran updates and installed some custom POI's mostly from POI Factory.

I wanted each of my cars to have a dedicated GPS so I would not have to use my phone or swap my 2555LMT between cars.

I have not had a chance to really test it, but it seems fine. I have been using the 2555LMT and really enjoy it. This model is essentially the 4.3 inch version. This is not the most up to date unit but is fine for me and price was right.

Safe travels to all.

1,500 miles

I made a trip from Atlanta to Dixon, IL last week and into the brutal cold. Garmin never let me down!

The only problem I have is the power cord gets frozen stiff in colder and freezing weather. not sure why that has to be.

It is hard for us to stay away from home for 2 weeks, don't know if I could do it for months..BUT the 86 degrees sure makes us think about it.
Have a nice warm time... And think of all us in the cold.

Depending on where you are in Texas, but from Laredo, Nuevo Laredo it takes me 1 1/2 days and one overnight stop to get to my winter paradise. About a 1,000 miles distance.
